Key fob and remote programming

A fob that stopped working is not always a fob that needs replacing. We diagnose before we sell you hardware.

Battery, fob, or vehicle

Three different problems get described the same way. A dying battery fades gradually and works closer to the car. A failed fob stops outright, often after water or a drop. A vehicle-side problem — a receiver or a body module — affects every fob you own, which is the tell. We check which one it is before quoting parts.

Programming, not just pairing

A replacement fob has to be written to the vehicle so the car recognizes it and, on many makes, so old lost fobs are invalidated. If someone has your old remote, deleting it matters as much as adding the new one.

Aftermarket and OEM

Both have their place and we will tell you honestly which suits your vehicle. On some makes aftermarket is indistinguishable; on others it is a false economy and we say so.

Questions

Can you erase a lost fob?

On most vehicles yes. If a remote is genuinely gone, invalidating it is worth doing.

I bought a fob online. Will you program it?

Usually. Tell us what you bought when you call — some listings are the wrong frequency or chip for the vehicle, and it is better to find that out on the phone.

Do you do remote start fobs?

Factory remote start, yes. Aftermarket systems depend on the unit installed.
